Chico Mann

2010/08/10

Chico Mann is the fucking KING! I got me the album “Manifest Tone Vol. 1” a while ago and its one of the best albums i have in my collection NO DOUBT! You just have to get it! He is doing a funky afrobeat, synth-driven thing and blending warm analog sounds with modern digital techniques.

This is brilliant.

time

Ohhh time is passing by pretty fast and i´m back to reality and also back to share some music in this blog, i´m soo full of new music in all forms and colours that you did not believe existed!

Also meet many new promising artist that i gonna love to introduce you all to. But first some of the dopest shit i´ve listen too in many years, Daniel Savio who also is the man behind a complete new genre that he calles Skwee and that is a musical style, with origin in Nordic countries Sweden and Finland.

Skweee combines simple synth leads and basslines with funk, r’n’b or soul-like rhythms, overall rendering a stripped-down funky sound. The tracks are mostly entirely instrumental, though there are exceptions. The name refers to the use of vintage synthesizers in the production process, were the aim is to “squeeze out” as interesting sounds as possible. The video this song is also pretty fuckin´ KOOL!

Black Grass

2009/02/19

black-grass

So listen up all dancefreaks, let me introduce you for Black Grass who is giving us a tight and eclectic blend of sounds, ranging through broken beat, ragga to hip-hop to ska to funk to latin and back again via soulful grooves that will make those dancing feets move for sure, spanning multiple genres and styles, whilst maintaining a consistent vibe with a groovy feel. The hip-hop stylings are present and combine seamlessly with the apparent influences that make Black Grass an absolute class act.

Signed to Catskills Records, this label was formed 1997 by a London/Brighton collective to release underground talent from their home turf. The label represents the best that both scenes has to offer, and has since spread it’s wings to Europe and the rest of the world with the signing of many international artists. Unlike other record labels there is no formula, no particular style and no particular genre of music that represents Catskills. They’ve said it before and they’ll say it again loudly for the people in the cheap seats; “it’s all about the headnod Factor, if it’s got it then we’ll spin it ’til it breaks our necks”.

Black Grass – Bless from the album “Three”

Black Grass – Bass Man from the album “Three”

Black Grass – This & That from the album “Three”

Black Grass – Nice Up from the selftitled album

Black Grass – Ain´t The Man from the selftitled album

Tipsy

tipsy

Brought together by their shared fascination for experimental music and noise, the San Francisco-based lounge-collage duo Tipsy consists of Tim Digulla and David Gardner. Previously, Gardner. It’s been a while since we had the last release from this experimental lounge-funk progenitors, but here they are with the album called “Buzzz”, making a return on Ipecac with sixteen new excursions into jazzy exotica and avant-garde assaults on easy listening.

Tim and David is calling their own music for “drunktronica,” explaining the seven-year layoff between this and their previous release by saying they were “distracted by commercial corporate money music for hire (as well as occasional substance abuse),”.

thievery-corporation

I don´t really know what to say about Thievery Corporation, they are in some kind of twilight zone, everybody knows about them but their still underground, anyhow, while remaining true to their template of sophisticated, abstract electronica, they are continuing to expand their sonic palette with 2008’s album “Radio Retaliation”. Dub, Funk, Indian raga, Brazilian grooves, and other international elements are folded into Thievery Corporation’s trip-hop-shaded soundscapes. Guests include Afro-beat royalty Femi Kuti, sitar guru Anushka Shankar, go-go godfather Chuck Brown, and Brazilian singer Seu Jorge, among others, lending sparkle and variation to the wide-ranging set. At the center of it all is the knob-twiddling alchemy of Rob Garza and Eric Hilton, which achieves one of its most organic and compelling expressions. Get ready for some catchy world tunes!
